Snack
As part of our daily schedule, we will have a quick ten minute morning snack break. Please send in a nutritious snack (carrots, bagels, dry cereal, breakfast bar etc…) each day. I do not allow candy, or any other sweets to be eaten unless we are celebrating a birthday. We are a nut free classroom. Water bottles are encouraged, as they lessen the amount of interruptions to leave the classroom for drinks. Please be sure they are labeled.
Agendas
Your child will come home each night with an agenda. Here you will find your child’s
homework, target goals, and special notes for the day. Please look it over each night and be sure it is returned to school each day.
Absences
When a student is absent, they will be given one day for each absence to make up
their missing work. Students will be given missing work when they return to school, or if it is an extended
absence you may contact me and I will get the work ready for parent pick up in the office. Often students will complete the work in class, as some assignments will need direct instruction from the teacher.
Birthdays
Birthday celebrations will take place during our morning snack time. You may send in a special treat for your child’s birthday, but please keep it simple. We are a nut free classroom. If your child does not have a birthday which occurs during the school year, you are welcome to send in a treat on the “half birthday”. Birthday invitations for a home party must be given to teacher so that they are given out discretely.
Lunch Money
All money needs to be sent in an envelope labeled with your child’s first and last name. Students may go home for lunch, please be sure to let your child know ahead of time to avoid confusion.
Bathroom Breaks
Students will have a bathroom break in the morning and in the afternoon. Of course if they need to go at any other time it will be allowed, but I am hoping that unless it’s an emergency, students try to go during the break times. This will take less time away from instruction.
